Lake Louise Campground, Banff National
Park, Alberta, Canada
My last day at Lake Louise.
Today was supposed to be a chores day –
get groceries and update the blog. But an adventure happened.
I was driving down to the town of Banff
and saw that the road that was closed earlier because of the fire was
now open. So, I decided to drive a ways down and just see the
scenery. I got past the fires – some still smoking – and turned
around. On the way back, out in the middle of nowhere, was a woman
with 2 small kids walking along the shoulder. I stopped and she said
shehad a flat tire and couldn't fix it herself. It was just a couple
hunded yards up the road, so I went up and started looking around.
After a bit of trouble trying to figure
out how to get the spare tire out (hint: look in the owner's manual)
it all went well and we had her back on the road in about a half an
hour.
Then it was down to Banff and
groceries, crowded Banff. There were cars circling the grocery store
parking lot looking for a space.
Then it was up to this cafe I saw a few
days earlier for lunch and the internet. I would have been better
served to do it in Banff. The internet was intermittent and the food
was expensive - $20 for a shrimp salad with 4 shrimp.
Back art camp I realized I had no
pictures for the blog. Just 200 yards from the campsite is the Bow
River:
It has a trail along it that was, until
a couple of days ago, closed due to bear activity:
