So I've spent several months trying to decide what I wanted to do this summer.

The first idea was a trip to Italy. But as time went by, that seemed less attractive. While in Yellowstone in May, I realized I hadn't been using the camper very much the last few years. So that would be it – a trip with the trailer.

But where to go? After a few weeks, I hit on it. The best place I went to on the Alaska trip was Hyder.



But I was only there for 3 days, so this time, I'll make it a week, and do it a couple of weeks later after the bears have found the fish.

Also, when I was there, people had been talking about places further south along the British Columbia coast, so I've added Prince Rupert Island and place called Bella Coola. Add in visits to Banff, Jasper and Glacier National Parks, it makes a pretty good trip. After working on the itinerary some, I realized I could be back in Yellowstone in mid September, which people say is good for the wildlife viewing.

We'll see.

So, I leave July 23rd and expect to get to Canada in early August where I have campground reservations in Banff and Jasper National Parks. I made reservations in that run-down RV park – Camp Run-A-Muck - in Hyder for a week starting August 15th.

After that, it's see what happens.

Sunday, May 13,2018 Mammoth Campground, Yellowstone Not much new. The general pattern of each day is go see the den on the morning, back to camp for lunch and chores and whatnot around noon and then back out in the afternoon to just see what I can see. Along the way, I'm working to get the phone/scope combination working better. Some progress had been made. If I'm not zooming too much, I can get this: From maybe 200 yards. But, large zooms are still not very good. Here is the wolf den with the alpha female sleeping alongside. Tuesday, May 15, 2018 Mammoth Campground, Yellowstone It was a short day. After spending a chilly morning watching the den: I headed back to camp for lunch. Along the way, I found a black bear – walking across the Yellowstone River bridge! I took that picture through the windshield just as he was leaing the bridge. All the people behaved. The cars coming the other way stopped and waited for him to cross while the line I was in stayed well enough behind that he just walked all the way – right down the centerline. After lunch, I took a nap – for 3 hours! That kind of did my day in.
